Hardware Accessories

Many hardware accessories are designed to provide stylish accents that complete the look of your window treatments. Tiebacks are used to hold draperies off to the sides of a window and can be simple fabric strips or elaborate bows. Holdbacks offer the same functionality as tiebacks, but consist of harder, decorative materials that are secured to a wall and provide a holder for keeping drapes and curtains in an open position. Rings, clips, hooks and pulls connect drapes and curtains to the rod and may be either hidden or visible. Styles range from simple, unadorned wrought iron rings to clips with decorative leaves, stars, branches, and more.

Finials

Finials are used to accent numerous styles of window treatments. They can be elaborate, intricate, and luxurious or simple, modern, and sleek. Finials come in many finishes and can be customized to fit your drapery style, size, and taste! Finials provide that "finishing touch" and will give your window treatment hardware a finished look. The decorative accents you choose to fit the end of your poles can leave a lasting impression, the finial design choice is entirely personal. There are no rules to follow, just accentuate your personal taste!

Go Retro!

What's the easiest way to create a unique, stylish home? Go vintage! Not only do vintage and retro furniture pieces bring a sense of history to a space, but purchasing existing furniture or re-using what you already have saves tons of money! When using retro pieces don't go overboard...Meaning, don't purchase all retro furniture from the 1960's. The point isn't to go back in time, just to add a touch of pizazz from the past. Mixing and mingling new, modern pieces with those of old will do just that! Don't be afraid to mix it up! Throw in some vintage pieces with new upholstery, modern materials, and splashes of funky, bright patterns & colors.

Wallpaper Makes A Comeback

Once out of favor and nearly obsolete in modern design, wallpaper is now making a comeback! And let's just note that it's nothing like what you remember seeing on your grandmother's walls.  By the mid-'80s through the 90's, wallpaper slowly began to fall out of favor. Instead, homeowners stripped their walls of it, opting for a more minimalist look. Now, wall coverings have once again made a comeback and is beginning to appear all over interior design styles. Leading trends include murals, damask & geomteric patterned, and coverings with an aged elegance or gentle worn look. Bright colors and textured looks are also popular. Others are pushing the design envelope, adding all sorts of dimensions. Take a look below!

Kitchen Make-Over Basics

A kitchen make-over is a popular remodel project that many homeowners do numerous times over the life of their home. A goal when re-decorating a kitchen is to make sure the result is comfortable while looking clean and uncluttered. There are three guidelines you should be sure top follow when  re-vamping kitchens. First, pick a limited color palette and don’t stray too far from it. When selecting colors use classic combinations to keep things cohesive.  Second, use blending contrasts in your décor such combining accents that are both new and old, modern and traditional, shiny surfaces with matte ones,  or bold hues with neutrals. This provides a variation of textures and colors. Thirdly give personality to the space with pops of color or patterned textiles. This creates interest within the kitchen and keeps it lively and interactive.

Exterior House Colors

Selecting exterior paint colors if often a big and expensive decision and can make or break curb appeal. A homes exterior color should blend with its immediate surroundings. When selecting, consider adjacent homes, surrounding foliage, and the architectural style of your house. If your home is nestled in green foliage use earthy tones. For off white and cream siding, brown and taupe blend well when used on trim and shitters. White trim is a classic choice to keep exterior lines clean and crisp while not overpowering colored siding. White trim can also keep brown exteriors from becoming too bland. For subtle hints of color use muted gold and barn reds on shutters and entry doors; these coordinate, look nice with whites and tans,  and add just enough accent to not overpower the home.

Hollywood Glamour

Hollywood glamour is a decorating style surging in popularity. No longer just for the rich and famous, this style features over the top accesories, bold prints, lush textures, and retro furniture. Hollywood glam focuses on making the home a showpiece for guests. To achieve this luxury style designers use bright, glossy colors on furniture, lots of luxe fabrics like velvet, silk, and faux furs, loud colors, and ambient lighting fixtures and chandeliers.

Add Drama

For a touch of drama, add black in various fabrics as well as in plates, monograms, and frames on the walls. Bold chevron stripes on pillows mixed with a classic duvet pattern brings contemporary elements to the mix.
